Aloha everyone, I had my  consult on April 28, Dr. submitted in approval on May 3, sad to say HMSA denied coverage.... At the time my BMI was 38.1, My conditions are Diabetes type 2, hypertension and a few other conditions. HMSA still denied me stating that my daibetes in not severe enough to be considered a high risk co-morbity by their standards.. I am so fustrated!!!! I am planning to appeal the decision and was wondering if anyone out there has had similar problems and what happened.... Any help would be greatly appreciated....

 Aloha Merrie,

Welcome to the OH board!  Wishing you a great consultation with Dr. Fowler... he is truly fabulous.  Whatever surgery you decide you are in great hands!

Aloha,
I am new to the board and I just wanted to introduce myself.  I am having my first consultation with Dr. Fowler this Thursday and I wanted to do some more research before I go in.  I was thinking about doing the lap band, but I have decided to do the RYN...I hope.  I am looking forward to this dr. visit.  Thank you for any information you can give me.

Sorry he's having a rough time.  I wouldn't waste anytime contacting his surgeon for advise.  Good luck!

My husband had the Roux en y surgery, just about a month ago and has been having a bit of a hard time.  We were doing good the first week, ate what he could and drank as best as he could.  Then a week ago he started vomitting everything he ate, and now his liquids won't hold as well.  Please advise.

My husband had the Roux en y surgery in Oahu about a month ago and has been having a hard time keeping anything in.  He was doing good eating little bit for a few weeks, then a week a ago he started vomitting everything that he tries and eat, including his liquids.  Please advise
