Hi Viki,

Thanks for checking on me. I haven't been posting as my computer died! Surgery went well and I am pleased with the results so far. The arms were painful and it was difficult to get comfortable. The breasts had very little pain. I will be at support group on Saturday 08.07.10 if you want more info or to see the arm scars.

Hope to see you there.

Take care,
Ole

Hi DwindlingFlower,

In case you haven't gotten enough info for your mom, Castle Medical Center and Queen's Hospital have comprehensive bariatric surgery programs.  Kaiser Permanente does as well, but you must be a Kaiser member, and there is a lengthy process for a member to be approved including lots of required education.  I am 63 years old, and in the process, which started for me in April 2010.  I'm guessing it will probably be next year before I have the surgery.  Hope this helps a little.

Has anyone have their surgery done at Kapiolani Medical center? If so what was your experience there?

That is great news! It just seems the farther out I get and healthier I get, I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall!  lol  I know I should be thankful that I haven't had any complications either but I also want to do whatever possible to prevent anything from happening.
I've reached my goal and happily maintaining!! :) Working on the next stage of plastic surgery to get rid of all this loose skin!!

Aloha!

Congratulations! 5yrs maintaining is a huge success!  What an inspiration.

Can I ask, in your 5yrs, have you had any complications?
