Aloha!
Taking my day slowly here. Had a long, hard week and need to regenerate for tomorrow and yet another long, hard week. But, it's all good....
Laundry! I knew I was forgetting something! Thanks for reminding me, Michelle!
Hubby and I may take a motorcycle ride later today. That usually makes me feel a lot better when I get out in the sun (a little) and feel the breeze and observe the beauty of the island again.
Hope everyone else is well!
((hugs))
A hui hou!

Topic: RE: I'm Obese!!!!
Aloha Karen!
Isn't it funny the things that make us happy along this journey? I remember being super morbidly obese just a few months ago and hated those words!
You're such an inspiration to me! You were near exactly where I started my journey. Knowing that you could do it and keep the weight off gives me such great hope for a weight free struggle life!!!!
Congrats on your huge success!!!

Aloha neighbor......I don't come into the Hawaii forum very often, but decided to pop in today, and got such a big happy chuckle out of your post. It brought back such wonderful memories of being exactly where you are....how thrilled I was to be only OBESE!
In my case, I started out (almost 3 years ago now) at 319 where I was very clumsy, slow and easily tired. Now, at half of that weight, I am free in my body....can fit into any chair, can fly on plane with room in my seat to spare, can run up stairs, etc. etc. It is a miracle.
Enjoy every minute of this journey...and thanks for making my Maui morning!!
Aloha nui loa,
Karen

Topic: RE: Find out 2marrow
First of all, congratulations!!!
Prior to surgery, focus on all that is positive. I even started a journal where I listed all the good things I would be looking forward to... sort of bouncing off the negative. Think of the things you dislike and want to change about yourself and put them in a positive light.... like: I hated wearing 2X-3X clothing so wrote "I looked forward to wearing size 10 clothes again and looking for clothes in the regular size departments."
I continued to read a LOT. It reinforced my belief that my surgery was THE was to rid myself of the weight and the ONLY way to accompli**** There are many good books out there. I have a list of the ones I read in my profile that were recommended by Dr. C.
Read all the brochures that Dr. C gives you so you have almost all of it memorized. It will be your way of life and it is all so informative and enlightening. Accept it and embrace it. Follow his directions.... after all, he's the one with all the experience and knowledge and that's why you selected him (and his staff) as your surgical team.
A positive attitude is what will help you through recovery and through your healing. I can't express this enough.
Have absolute faith in Dr. C. I don't usually say this because there are many excellent surgeons, but... he is one of THE BEST surgeons, if not THE best. You are in the finest and most skilled hands. He will control your pain so you will only have discomfort for a very short time. I was never in any pain and took very little pain medication. I never hit my morphine line while in the hospital and never opened my liquid pain meds while recovering at the hotel. (I had to stay in SF for a week following my surgery.)
You will be so happy... a new life awaits you. Be excited and get rid of the negativity. The alternatives for NOT having the surgery are what you should be nervous and scared of.
Malama pono...
