Aloha & e komo mai!
What kind of WLS did you have? You mention a pouch, so I'm thinking either RNY or DS?
Getting back to basics and staying there seems to be the key no matter what type of surgery. Watching carb and sugar intake, keeping an eye on calories, too. We know WHAT to do, we just have to DO IT!

Topic: New.
Hi everyone. My name is Chrissy and I'm 23 years old. I had wls in Aug 2002 (when I was 16) weighing in at 300lbs. I got down to my goal weight of 140. Kept the weight off until 2007 when I got pregnant with my first son and gained a whopping 60lbs (I don't recommend giving in to those cheeto cravings!) and then gained an additional 20lbs this year with my second child who was just born on July 31st.
So now I am sitting at 220, feeling miserable about gaining all this weight back and just not sure where to go from here. I have a two year old and a newborn and am just plain exhausted. My pouch has stretched out considerably and I know that my best chances to get my weight back under control would be with some sort of revision.
What is everyones experiences with revisions? Are they typically covered by insurance if your doctor feels it necessary?
I would like to say for anyone considering WLS, It changed my life. At 16 I was in the middle of my high school years dealing with the cruel things kids say and do. By 17, I wore a size 9 dress to the prom, and by 18 I wore a size 7 dress to the prom (and it was form fitting!)

Yes, fruit IS a carbohydrate!
Hawaii is rich with those desirable fresh fruits. Fruits supply are bodies with healthy fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. They are wonderful with a meal, as a small snack, or blended into a protein drink. However, please do keep an eye on your consumption. Fruit is considered a carbohydrate due to its natural sugar content. Overdoing it with your fruit intake can sometimes slow the weight loss process. But it is a part of a healthy diet! Once you have started eating solid foods, try to have 1 or 2 small servings of fruit a day.
To give you an idea of how many calories and carbs come in fruit, here's some guidelines. The following items contain ~60 calories and ~15 grams of carb.
Grapes, small (15)
Honeydew melon (1 slice or 1 cup cubes)
Mango, small (1/2 mango or 1/2 cup cubes)
Papaya (1/2 papaya)
Pineapple, fresh (1/2 cup)
Many of you will not be able to consume this much at a meal, but I do encourage you to incorporate small amounts into your diet. Remember, fruit juice (even if it is unsweetened) is not a substitute for fruit!
Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you Ladies...I rested all weekend and at times felt nauseous but today I'm feeling a lot better. I can only stomach yogurt right now but I'm going to try some new protein shakes and drinks. I think the depression is more because I'm not feeling well and the fact that I feel like a WLS failure. I think I'm just having a pity party....So I'm going to try harder today to get my protein in and I'm glad to say that I have been getting in my fluids!!!

I agree with everything everyone said.......you need to call your doctor again if things don't change.......what are you eating, at what stage of foods? are you doing milk? sometimes mixing your protein shakes with milk can make you feel bad in the beginning, everyone is different with what they can eat.........try some crackers and let them melt in your mouth. or some yogurt...and even lemon crystal light drink with lots of ice.....but be agreesive with your feelings, if your not better call your doctor.....I will pray for you..............................Lois

Gurl I understand what you mean when you say you feel like meds are all your pouch is filled with!!! lol I feel the same way! In addition to all the regular meds Dr. C has you take, I'm also taking all the one's he recommends for hair loss too. Imagine that, my pill box if full!! It's ok though, I knew it would be like this.
Congrats on your weight loss and excercising. Keep up the awesome job!
I love fish too and practically lived off poke for the first 3-4 months!!
