Thanks for your honesty.  My son is hoping to move there.  He is getting married and his future wife is from Hawaii.  He wants me to go there as well, but I hear unless you have money it's hard to enjoy all the island has to offer. I just am not sure.  He is so excited and  young and you know they sometimes don't see the big picture. Thanks again!!! Take care, Kathy ps...are jobs hard to find?

I moved here almost three years ago. Here's my perspective: For a 1600 sq. ft. house, no pool, no ocean view, in a noisy neighborhood, I paid $700,000. I think now it would be about $850,000, based on houses for sale in my neighborhood. My mortgage is an astounding $4,000 a month. Milk is almost $9.00 a gallon, unless you shop at Costco. Groceries for my family of 4 (2 young ones) runs me about $200 a week. Car insurance is more expensive here. It's too hot for me to walk most of the time. Life is very different here and I have found it very difficult to adapt to such a different life. In some ways, it's like living in the 1950's. In some ways it's like living in another country. And I moved here from Alaska so I'm used to remoteness, so it isn't that. Life is just different here.

To rent  would be about 2000 to 3000 a month.  To buy would probably be 400 to 600,000. Thanks, Kema

Hi, It appears this board is not to busy... I hope you guys can help.  Be honest, how expensive is it to live in Hawaii?  Can you get a home and or a place to live without costing a fortune?  What is the cost of living?  Food and such? Any input advice would be greatly appreciated. Take care, Kathy

Topic: PRE-REGISTRATION FOR THE ONE AND ONLY 2008 RUBY CRUISES CRUISE TO LOSE IS NOW OPEN!!

Let us hear from you!  Go to www.rubycruises.com, and in the upper right hand corner, you may pre-register (at no cost) for next year’s cruise!  It will be once again on Mariner of the Seas, sailing on a week long adventure to the Western Caribbean (Labadee, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel) from Port Canaveral, near Orlando .

To date, we have nearly 200 OH’ers registered for this cruise!  WOW!  You’ll see lots of familiar faces, and some new ones too!  We currently have bariatric surgeons, a plastic surgeon, a bariatric coordinator, a nutritionist, and a fitness instructor joining in for next year’s activities.  BUT…..this is also your cruise VACATION, and a chance to meet, mingle and CELEBRATE with your fellow WLS’ers!!

ALL are welcome – pre-op’s, post-op’s, of ALL TYPES of WLS, family members and friends, so fill out your pre-registration form today!

Watch the board for more information and updates coming SOON!!

Check out my profile for pictures of MARINER OF THE SEAS from a cruise I did with my family in 12/04, and from just two weeks ago when I did an inspection tour for this year's CRUISE TO LOSE!  Make sure you check out the pictures of the Royal Promenade, ROCK CLIMBING WALL(!!!!), 18-Hole Mini Golf Course, ICE SKATING RINK (again, !!!!!!) among other points of interest!  The Royal Promenade has café’s and bistro’s, and Promenade Cabins overlooking the “main street” – these areas are actually “Inside cabins” retrofitted with a picture window overlooking the promenade!  NO OTHER CRUISE LINE offers such a great, inexpensive alternative to what would otherwise be an “Inside”!!  Each day there are various activities here, including parades, parties (70’s and 80’s parties, Mardi Gras, etc.), and while at sea, the shops along the mall are open for business!

Go to www.rubycruises.com to PRE-REGISTER – upper right hand corner.  If you have any questions, you may PM me here, email me at [email protected], or call me TOLL FREE at 866-685-RUBY (7829).

Hi Janey!  I'm glad to see more people from Hawaii posting again!  This Board gets pretty quiet sometimes. Dr. Cirangle did my lap rny on January 10, 2005.  He is an awesome doctor!  I am so thankful that I heard about him.  Back in 2005, he was still doing his surgeries at Pali Momi Hospital on Oahu. Take care and keep us posted on your progress. Keep in touch and God Bless you and yours. Aloha,  Pat Nicely 263/130 lbs. 5 feet tall

Keep up the great work and stay in touch!  This Hawaii Board has been really quiet, so it's nice to see that people are beginning to post again. Take care and God Bless!
