Topic: 1st Consultation Update...
I posted the update on my profile. BUT I have to lose 25-30 pds pre surgery. Dietician gave me a food list BUT I would like to know what some of you had for meals in order to allow you to lose the weight u needed to pre surgery. That way it kinda gives me an idea for myself. Its gonna be rough for me cause not only do i need to give up my beloved Dr. Pepper but at the same time I am also giving up smoking (but I do have patches for that) my poor poor husband and son!! I just hope I am not to cranky for them during the hard part of this process! LOL.

Mahalo for any help you can give me guys!

*please note I dont eat to many local foods as of yet, im still pretty much on a mainland diet LOL*

I just wanted to share with everyone on this board since you have all been so supportive and helpful.

So I am one month post op and I am shocked at all the changes that have taken place so far.
Highest weight  August 2008-351lbs
Surgery weight November 13 2008-325lbs
Current weight December 13 2008-296 lbs

That is 55lbs total, 26lbs lost pre-op on a low-carb, low fat diet, 29lbs post-op. I haven't weighed less than 300lbs in at least 10 years. I couldn't see the changes even though people kept telling me that I was losing weight and that it was noticeable. It didn't really hit home until I went clothes shopping this week and realized that my jeans are now 2 sizes smaller and my tops are 1 size smaller. I wanted to cry in the dressing room and when I came out to get my friend's opinion on a pair of jeans she said "It's nice to see your ass again since your jeans have been billowing in the wind the last month and you couldn't tell that you had an ass." I went instantly from tears to laughter. Thank god for friends, I don't know what I would do without mine!

Hi Sara,

Congratulations on your surgery.  The first week after surgery it seemed like all I wanted to do was sleep. My mom was great in getting up and motivated to walk and move around between naps. The second week though I was pretty much back to normal, if I overdid it my body definitely let me know. Take care of yourself and get well soon.

I hope you have a smooth and speedy recovery.

Aloha Sara-

Yep, rest is SO important, but don't forget to keep pushing the liquids and walking between naps... that is equally important. No room for dehydration or blood clots!!!!!!

I'm so glad you're home and recovering and taking care of yourself.

Malama pono and continued success!!

I posted on my blog page about my surgery experience and totally forgot to post it on the Hawaii board so if anyone is interested check that out.  I tried to write it for future folks who might be going to SF for this!

Anyway yesterday I got my 64 oz. of liquids and 70 grams of protein in!  Success!  I'm learning what I like all over again.  Right now its the nectar and the bullets (fruit tasting drinks) but not anything chocolate....

I'm glad to hear you are doing ok and are getting some rest.  I think it's good to take a few days for ourselves here so we can adjust well and heal quickly.  By next week we will all feel like a million bucks right?
