PLEASE HELP!!! YOUR ADVISE MEANS ALOT CALIFORNIA AND HAWAII
I read your profile and think that is absolutely awful they would do that to you!!! I also live on Maui and am in the surgery process thru kaiser I am being presented in june. I am so sorry and I hope they let you have it!!! So not Fair. There has got to be a way to fight them, there are people in my classes that weigh more than you. It just doesn't make sense!! good luck and Best wishes.
Aloha Shannon
Veronica, there are plenty of people on the OH site that have had the surgery with your BMI and higher. But... I think it comes down to Dr. preference. It is riskier, the higher BMI, and more co-morbidities a person has... I would think that because you're so young, and don't have any co-morbidities, that you'd stand a better chance though. I think it's probably just those Docs.. they're worried about possible complications, and don't want their name associated with a bad outcome. (Not to say yours would be, but the chances are higher with the higher BMI)
LOOK for another program though if at all possible!!!! Someone should have been upfront with you from the beginning before you put in all the hard work. That's what makes me really mad.. you've worked so hard. Is there ANY way at all of appealing the decision?? I'd certainly see what you can do to make waves, cause it's not fair for them to string you along. Have you paid them any money all this time on top of it for the classes, etc??
Let us know what happens, k? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi, after reading your profile I remembered this video clip that I retrieved off the Lap Band forum a few months ago. You might find it interesting. To sum it up, this brother and sister were too heavy for the gastric bypass, but successfully had the Adjustible Lap Band.

No matter what happens, good luck, and we are all rooting for you.
