Hello everyone...we got back to Hawaii this afternoon...it feels sooooooo good to be back home!! I had some motion sickness on the plane, for the first time ever and I am thinking maybe it is from my new smaller tummy....it sucked...there was nothing there to come up so I had like the dry heaves and now I'm pretty worn out. I am going to attempt a bite of some "real" food tonight though, this whole protein shake/liquid diet thing is just not cutting it anymore....the protien makes me gag and feel sick just thinking about it, and now I cry when I smell my husband and son eating something---especially a cheeseburger...it's probably pathetic, but I've broken down a couple times over the whole food thing. I'm sure it gets better and easier mentally as your body adjusts...so I'm holding onto hope!!!!

Oh Jessica, It's not pathetic!! I can't even begin to know exactly what you're going through, but I imagine once you start seeing the progress, and feeling the changes.. it will be easier! Imagine yourself next week xx lbs smaller!! Imagine what your sacrifices now are earning you down the road. Maybe you should set yourself some personal goals and then reward yourself as lavishly as you can when you achieve them!! And of course - keep posting... that's what we're here for! So sorry about the dry heaves... I absolutely hate those!! Can I ask you though - does that feel different with the smaller tummy? Is it just as awful? Or worse? Take care, and welcome home! (((Hugs)))

Vomiting and heaving is a totally different sensation for me. It is more like a deep burp now than a gut wrenching heave. In fact if something don't sit quite right and I have to vomit, I can lean forward over the toilet for a few mins with my chest down low and the food will just run back up out of my throat. However, the nausea with dumping is worse! Mostly because you do not always vomit and though you wish you could it makes you miserable. You get the sweats and just have to lay down till it passes. Very unpleasant. Steffie

The grieving of food thing unfortunately is gonna get alot worse before it gets better. I am still grieving food at almost 2 months out. It does get better once you start on solids and you start to get that unplesant pressure behind your breast bone. It kindly reminds you why you don't want to be in a hurry to start eating. Sorry if this sounds like bad news. But,...this is the good stuff that keeps us losing! Steffie

Welcome Home! The plane ride was terrible for me too. Try some different drinks, I couldn't tolerate most of mine. I only really like the chocolate soy from GNC. I think it has the wrong stuff, but it is protein and liquid. I found that when I first got home I ate some "real foods in the blender" I added milk to some blended split pea soup. Put a few chunks of ham with it in the blender to increase the protein. I lived on that stuff for days. Egg drop soup was another of my favorites. (Chicken broth boiling, add a beat egg, stir about a minute) Don't cheat you'll probably puke. Today (I'm 4 weeks out) I ate an omelete, it didn't stay with me, so I've put myself back on liquids til my tummy settles down. It really sucks having to cook for the family. My boys can be independent so if I don't want to cook for them I don't.... It'll get better. Drink your water! Feel better, Aloha, Joan
