Ok so I went to my PCP on Thurs.
I went to see my PCP Dr. Cuda and she seems like she is pro-WLS so that is great, although she did not seem to know as much about as I do ;) She agrees that we need to make sure that everything reads kosher in my med records before we submit a referral to Tricare Prime for the surgery in order for the best chances at an approval for me. In the mean time she has to make sure there is not something more serious going on with my knees other than osteoarthritis that might need surgery so she did some x-rays that may lead to the eventual need of MRI but that will be determined at my follow up and yearly physical on the 28th of this month.
Now here is a question. I am on this site hours a day just reading away and I wanted to ask some of you a question. Has anyone done anything like put nickle rolls in their pockets on ankle weights up agianst their tummy in their pants during a weigh in to qualify for WLS? I have read where people have sucessfully done this and I have even questioned myself, although it is dishonest, would it be worth my while to do it dispite the fact that I should have no problems qualifying with my comorbs according to my PCP?
I will go on further and on to another subject. since I am military and I am unsure how many other military we have here. Has anyone else run into the stonewall lately with the Dr's being deployed at Tripler and having to go outside? I will take this further and say I am absolutely AGAINST open RNY if I have a choice. If anyone did have to fly off island to see another doctor (MaryAnn this is a good question for you) What types of total cost did you experience associated with it? I am trying to paint myself an accurate picture so that I can plan accordingly for this. NO SUPRISES FINANCIALLY. It is enough that I will have to deal with all of the changes that my body will be going through at that time.
I understand there is some amount of waiting associated with this sugery, however my husband is deploying next year around July, August time and I understand the doctors in Tripler will be back around that time frame as well which will put me at the end of a very long line of surgeries which I might not be able to progress my way through before I leave this island. Hence having to start this ALL over again at my next location. Not to mention, to my understanding...Dr. Z does not do the lap procedure so the option would no longer be my own.
