Support group meetings in Hawaii

Aloha everyone. I'm still searching frantically for some kind of support group meeting on Oahu. I have just about decided to start my own but need your help. If anyone knows of any military bariatric patients on the island that would like to attend, please respond to this message. I have been in contact with Tripler Army Med Center and they don't have meetings anymore. Please help me out!!! I don't know about you all, but I need the support of other patients to keep me on the right track. Any information you can give me will be of great help!! Thank you!

I had surgery in Virginia in February of this year. I currently live in Waianae but I work in Aiea at Camp Smith. I'm looking for support as well. If you decide to start one, I'll be glad to join. Let me know

Hi Lesley, Yes, I'll be sure to keep you posted. I called Tripler this morning and they suggested I start my own group. If that's what it takes to get one going, then I'll be happy to start one. Vonni

Hi my name is Dee ..I live on Oahu and had surgery on the mainland...and I can not attend any of the support group meetings here.....but as luck would have it....I have a new job and there is another person there that had the surgery as well....her and I started an online support group at yahoo.....open to all WLS patients in the Hawaiian Islands regardless of Dr., insurance, newbies or post ops...or just looking into the surgery. Hi Kaiser on Oahu has several support groups going. If you are not a member of Kaiser I think you can pay a one time fee to attend the groups. I live on Maui and we have two groups going just on Maui through Kaiser. Good luck!!!!!!

We moved to the island in August 2005 from Virginia, and I am about to have the surgery done next month (Feb 21st, 2006) in California, but, I would LOVE to find a support group out here if there is one. The only support person I have is my husband and he is military, so once he deploys, that is it!!
