Elizabeth, if you are coming a few days before your vow renewal I think a great place is Sears at Ala Moana Shopping Center. They always have sales and you can try the muu muu's on. Macy's is also there and they have good sales. Unfortunately we no longer have J.C. Penney's in Hawaii. Tourists go to Hilo Hattie's, but I'm not sure how good deal you can really get there. You want to get the best deal possible because not only are you on a budget, but you will lose so much weight after your surgery, you won't be wearing muu muu's any more. Aloha and Good Luck, Paula

What about trying Goodwill or Salvation Army? I know some people dont care for second hand clothes, but I would hate to see you spend so much money on a dress that you will probably only wear this once and then loose so much weight it will fall off of you. Either way I wanted to welcome you to the islands and hope you have a GREAT Hawaiian wedding!

I recommend going to the Muumuu Factory (I think that's the name) on Kapiolani Boulevard. It's near Ala Moana Shopping Center. It's right next to Pet's Discount. If you can't find parking in the front (there's only 4 slots), there's more parking in the back. It's a relatively unknown shop, so parking shouldn't be a problem.

Elizabeth, I was in Maui & Oahu in April/May for 5 weeks. They have Ross's, Walmart & Kmart that all have relatively inexpensive dresses in plus sizes. I got macadamia nuts to bring home and other souveneirs there too, way cheap. Take the "BUS". It's only $2. Make sure you get a transfer. It'll take you back for free same day. Also Hilo Hattie's has free trolleys to go from Hotels to their main store for free. Some good bargains there also. Good luck and have a great vacation. Hawaiian at heart. Elissa Hart

Elizabeth, I live on Oahu and swear by the Swap Meet at the Aloha Stadium. The vendors are from all over the islands and the prices are fantastic! They are open Sat, Sun and Wed. I recommend the weekends because there are more vendors. It cost .50/per shopper if you drive in. If you take The Bus I think it's free because you are walking in. They have plenty to choose from and if you don't find anything you like/fit, sometimes they offer to make it for you. If fact alot of the stores from downtown get their merchandise from there. Hope this helps. Oh yea, I got married here too on a mountain top overlooking Diamond Head, the ocean and Honolulu! It was breathtaking!! Good Luck!!

Aloha Elizabeth, also can try Hilo Hatties. They have larger sizes. If you come over to Maui on your trip Big Bugga's in Paia have larger sizes too. Good luck on your vacation.

Hi my name is Dee ..I live on Oahu and had surgery on the mainland...and I can not attend any of the support group meetings here.....but as luck would have it....I have a new job and there is another person there that had the surgery as well....her and I started an online support group at yahoo.....open to all WLS patients in the Hawaiian Islands regardless of Dr., insurance, newbies or post ops...or just looking into the surgery. We would also like to hold GT(Get Togethers) from time and live support meetings starting at least once a month and then maybe going to 2 times a month with outings (like dinners, bowling, movies, beach) here is the website to join http://groups.yahoo.com/Hawaii-OSSG Dee 7/24/2002 Lap RNY Dr. Juarez 228/145
