I'm 44, female, 5'4 and big, I have 3 sons ages 26, 14 and 5. I love sashimi, Chinese and Filipino foods! I have sleep apnea, aching kower back and not flexible at all. I'm a SAHM and I enjoy that! I miss Hawaii for the ethnic foods and very fresh ahi, but, I totally enjoy it here in Washington. Surgery is July 26, I'm getting banded same day as my hubby, Liz Now, your turn.....

Good luck on your lap band surgery. Make sure you follow the rules about chew, chew, chew, and don't drink water when you eat or 1 hour afterwards. I'm very happy with my lap band and I am getting my first fill next week. What is SAHM? Aloha, Paula

Hey Paula, Thanks for the advice there. I'm so paranoid about getting anything stuck, I intend to chew big time. So whats a day like for you food wise? Could you give me a couple of examples of what you're eating now? Thanks! Liz

Howzit! ^^ I'm 22, 6'1, and dare I post my weight? Mweh. Who cares. It's probably around 430 about now. My weight never bothered me until recently when my flu turned into pneumonia. I had the hardest time recovering back to what I would call normal health. And that was quite a wake-up call for me. It meant my weight was finally catching up to me. I work in the day as a medical clerk at this pink hospital that you folks may know. ^^ In the evenings I attend college in the attempts of getting my AS in Medical Administration. I love to write and read in my spare time. I'm planning to see the doc this weekend to see what can be set up for me. It's about time I did something about my weight. I've tried the diets and I've tried the pills. It worked for a bit, but never lasted long. It's pretty hard trying to lose weight here, I tell you. With all these local food place all around. And my being Filipino doesn't help, either. Pancit, pork adobo, chicken adobo, pork gisantes, pinakbet, lumpia, and all that good stuff. ^^

Hi, my name is Jamie and I live in Wahiawa. I am 5'4, pretty big, with three children (9 (or will be soon), 6 and 3) We have two kitties here in Hawaii with us and two doggies at home in Georgia. I'm a food junkie!! I miss Chic fil a, Golden Corral, SWEAT TEA, all those yummy southern fried foods..BUT I willing to give it all up to live a "normal" healthy fun filled life with my husband, children and extended family. I have an appt. with my surgeon or should I say consult with him on October 31st. I'm nervous but excited...I've asked a friend to come along and hold my hand but I'm thinking it might be better to stand on my own two feet for this one. I LOVE this site, it's very informative, full of GREAT people, and lots of encouragement!! Aloha, Jamie

Hi Liz, I live on the island of Maui. I am 5'll and am now down to 187. I started at 302 (BMI 41) pre-op. My surgery date was 1/12/05. I flew to Oahu and had surgery at Moanalua Hosp. Boy,do I love Oahu. So much shopping and good food. The good food part I can do without now because that is what got me into trouble in the first place. I have to say I always try and make it to the Cheesecake factory when I get over there. I have 25 more pounds to loose until I hit my personal goal weight. I have 7 more to loose till I hit the doctors goal weight. Almost there!! 302/187/160

Hi my name is Dee ..I live on Oahu and had surgery on the mainland...and I can not attend any of the support group meetings here.....but as luck would have it....I have a new job and there is another person there that had the surgery as well....her and I started an online support group at yahoo.....open to all WLS patients in the Hawaiian Islands regardless of Dr., insurance, newbies or post ops...or just looking into the surgery. We would also like to hold GT(Get Togethers) from time and live support meetings starting at least once a month and then maybe going to 2 times a month with outings (like dinners, bowling, movies, beach) here is the website to join http://groups.yahoo.com/Hawaii-OSSG Dee 7/24/2002 Lap RNY Dr. Juarez 228/145
