Support Groups?

Aloha!! I'm looking for a support group, preferrably at Tripler, for WLS patients, pre and post op. I had my surgery (RNY) June of 2004 and have recently moved to Hickam AFB. If anyone knows of any support groups, PLEASE let me know. Mahalo!!

Yvonne- I to have recently moved here after having the surgery Sep 04- what I am running into is I can't join a support group unless the Dr performed the surgery- so we have started our own group. We will formally start meeting the end of Jul- if you are interested let me know. Victoria

Victoria, WOO HOO!!! Count me in! Just let me when and where and I'll be there. I have a notebook that OH sent me. I was looking into being a group leader when I found out how hard it is to find good support groups in Hawaii. I haven't done the formal training but I'll bring the book and maybe you can get some ideas on running meetings. PLease, Please keep me posted. I would also like to hear about any support groups that get started. I am planning to have my surgery with Dr. Balfour, I have a meeting with him in October. It would be great to get advice from post ops and share fears and questions with pre ops. Aloha, Jamie

Hi my name is Dee ..I live on Oahu and had surgery on the mainland...and I can not attend any of the support group meetings here.....but as luck would have it....I have a new job and there is another person there that had the surgery as well....her and I started an online support group at yahoo.....open to all WLS patients in the Hawaiian Islands regardless of Dr., insurance, newbies or post ops...or just looking into the surgery. I am having my wls done in CA on Feb 21, 2006....I would LOVE to find a support group here in Hawaii...especially for afterwards...my husband is in the Navy, and besides him and my 14 month old son I have no other support here. Please let me know!! Thanks!!
