I live on Hickam afb and don't get out a whole lot so I just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there

Hello to you too! I was just looking at your profile, I heard about Dr. Zagorski, doesn't he charge 3 grand for a consultation (if you don't mind me asking) I've been thinking about finding a different surgeon because the wait for Dr. Balfour is ridiculous. I waited 8-9 months just for a consultation and now I have AT LEAST a 6 month wait for the surgery, I have absolutely no idea what to do with that time, and my mom is getting rather annoyed because its all I ever talk about, lol.

I didnt have to pay for anything, due to health issues that I had. There isn't that many Dr's here on the island that will take tricare. Linda

Aloha! I live in Pearl City.... close to Hickam! I had Open RNY on 08/07/02 with Dr. Zagorski at Tripler. He is fabulous. You are right.. there are absolutely no fees whatsoever to have Gastric Bypass at Tripler if you meet the criteria. I am the leader of the Preop Support Group at tripler so let me know if you have questions or want to know more about the program. Dr. Zagorski is fabulous by the way! Hello Kathie, my name Christina Ponce. I live in Catlin Housing....I've been on the island for 5yrs now. I am also a pre-op patient through Tripler. Today I had my meeting with Dr. Zagorski and he gave me a surgery date of March 15th. He was so awesome with the way he responded to my husband and I.....wow! I was so happy I had to compose myself until I left the hospital. Then I cried and said "Thank you God" for allowing me to have the patience it took to get me through the proccess. Well I also attend the pre-op groups at Tripler so I will see you there on the 11th. Congratulations on your success!!!!!

Oh man, I wish I had originally gone to tripler. My mom just told me thats how it was supposed to be but they refered me out because their list was too long. When I asked Dr. Balfour (straub) about support groups he said there was really no need for them... that made me hesitate because I've always heard that support groups do wonders for post oppers Anyways, the last time I spoke to someone in Dr. B's office she said they probably won't have a date for me for at least 6 months (thats after I've been waiting 8 months for a consult) Grrrr, very frustrating! Hiya, I am like kissing my laptop right now, because i am soooo freaking relieved to see other military members here in HI, my family and i are moving to HI in about two weeks. I am finally ready to go through with having wls, but i am weary because i am moving to a new place. i hope i am posting at the right place because i just want to meet others who have done it or is trying to go through with it, maybe we can talk . i am feeling lost, and excited, about HI and about wls . Hi there Ashley, I'm pretty close to you too. I live over in Schofield Barracks. I just had surgery on January 26th at Tripler with Dr Zagorski, he is a GREAT DR and a very caring person.
