HELP! I'm going to be a bridesmaid in December!
I have a small problem, I'm losing a lot of weight and don't have any clue as to what size I will be in December. I am going to be in a close friend's wedding as a bridesmaid and she now needs my measurements to have the dress ordered. I have put her off for two months now but it's getting down to the deadline.
Before surgery, I was 230 pounds and 5 feet 2 inches tall wearing a size 18 on top and 20 on bottom. I'm now 185 pounds at 3 months post op and wearing a size 14 on top and 16 on bottom. I tried on a dress by the same maker as the dress she has selected but cannot find the actual dress. Here's the dress The dress I tried on was a size 16 and it was a little tight. I'm thinking I should have her order a size 14 but the dress can only be sized down 2 sizes at the most. By December I will be 8 months post op. What do you think? Thanks for any help. Is there anyone else out there with the same size as me at surgery that I can compare to?
My measurements right now are 39 bust, 34.5 waist, and 46 in the hips. I have lost over 7 inches in the hips since surgery, YEH!!! With this dress, I think I need to focus on the bust and waist area since the skirt part over the hips will be more flowing and not tight against my body.

Aloha Lisa,
Boy, this is a tough one!!!! At 8 months you may or may not be close to goal. Since you were only 230 lbs. (don't you love hearing that?! hehehe) to start with, which compared to many is a lot less than where they started, it's difficult to tell. I started at 240 (and I am 5'3") and 7-8 month out, I believe I was down 80-90 pounds. It's really hard to predict where you'll be, but you sure don't want to slow down your weight loss just to accommodate a dress, no matter how important the occasion. Since it seems you're rather petite, I would go with a size 8 or 10 and if they can take it down 2 sizes, you'll be safe getting it down to a 4-6 (in the case of an 8) or 6-8 (in the case of a 10). Worst case scenario, you'll be wearing a size 8 or 10 and have the dress fit unaltered! I seriously doubt that though because weight loss is inevitable! And, yes! You really will be that much smaller!! I think it's hard for us to imagine. It takes SO long for our brains to catch up even after we've lost the weight.
If you stick to your current diet and exercise program you can dictate your weight loss quite well... watching sugars and carbs, of course, as well as the calories.
People will just have to be understanding of the situation and realize you're on a weight loss journey for the next several months at least!
Just imagine how marvelous you're going to look! Best of luck to you and I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.
Malama pono and a hui hou!

I agree on the 8. Right now I am a size 6 with no boobs or butt. You will probably want to wear shapewear to smooth things out a bit. I think you will probably be a 4 or 6 by then. Good luck
