Hair loss
Aloha Laura!
Congrats on the great weight loss!!!
I understand what you're going through with the hair loss. I've been taking Biotin, Fish Oil, Q10 and zinc for a couple of months now and it doesn't seem to be helping. I had thin hair before surgery and now I can see my scalp where my part is on the top of my head I'm afaid I'll be bald soon if it doesn't stop. I've been told it should start getting better after about 6months. So, another month for the both of us. Let's hope so because my scalp will start getting a sunburn in these months to come.......
Aloha~

I am out two years now, the first year around 8 month and up I lost allot of hair, I did and still do take biotin everyday, I buy it at walmart......my hair did even out and now is growing like it never did before..................I also still do protein shakes daily, and make sure I get a minimum of 80 protein a day either from food, shakes, and good protein bars, ....................5000mc in biotin.........even my one friend who lost 90% of her hair and also could see her scalp and had very thin hair to start has beautiful hair now so just hang in there ...this is only temporary.

Aloha All-
Unfortunately, the hair loss is unrelated to the amount of protein, biotin, zinc, selenium, CoQ10, etc that you take. It's from the metabolic stress (anesthesia and surgery, or pregnancy for example), and is called telogen effluvium. Usually happens about 3-5 months post op or post delivery. I hit all my protein/Biotin/vitamins/etc levels from 3 weeks on, and had even started those supplements one month prior to surgery- still lost hair starting at about 4 months. Good news- it will slow down about 2-3 months after it starts- and taking your biotin/etc will help your new hair and nails grow in, but won't prevent the loss.
