Bra size denial
Lately none of my bras have been fitting well , leading to increased back and shoulder pain. I was having a hard time figuring what bra size I should be in because none of the bras I have been trying on fit right. So yesterday I haul my unhappy butt down to Nordstroms to get fitted for a bra. The very nice and helpful lady asked me what size bras I had been trying and I told her well 42 band with DD cups but the best fitting bra I currently own is an F. She smiled and told me that I was going too big with the band size and too small with the cup size. I was skeptical but agreed to try the bras she brought me after measuring me. So she brings in a couple of bras and I try them on and they are perfect. Supportive, comfortable, and cute! So I conceeded that she is correct and I don't know what I am doing, lol. Then I ask her what size they are and I was floored when she told me 36G! Omg I had to ask her twice if she was sure and she showed me and I just can't believe how in denial I was about my breast size. I mean I knew they were big but G! So today I started saving for a breast reduction just in case I can't get insurance to cover it. No wonder my back and shoulders have been killing me for years.
Anybody else out there experience anything similar or suspect that they might be wearing the wrong bra size?
Ole
Glad the girls finally have a comfortable home! A good bra can really make you feel good!!!
Impressive that you've gone down to a 36!!! At one time I considered breast reduction, but after my sister-in-law went through just the opposite procedure I decided against it. She suffered so!! That was years ago though.
By all means, if this is causing you pain and misery, I would hope your insurance would cover it and you could get the surgery you want/need. I never understood how/why some women wanted to increase normal, perfect breasts, but I am certainly supportive of those of us who contemplate the reduction. As I get older, I wouldn't even consider it now and with my weight loss, it's not really necessary anymore, but my heart goes out to you.
Congrats on finding your correct size! I bet you'll be feeling MUCH better now in many ways!!
((hugs))
I've always wanted to get myself sized but was too embarrased. How was that experience for you? Well considering you're now comfortably fit, I'm sure it was worth it :)
Congrats on the new find. You know it's going to change soon though cause you're on a roll with the weight loss!!
Take Care!
For me it is rather depressing. I was a 42DD to begin now I am a small saggy 34C. Now I have to fold and stuff.

Makena,
I always love your positivity and support. I really hope that insurance will cover a reduction so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Viki,
Being fitted for a bra was a positive experience for me. The lady who helped me was named Lisa and she was very personable and made me feel very comfortable. I think it depends on how comfortable you are with being half naked in front of someone you have just met. I treat bra fittings as if it were a trip to the doc. I remind myself that these women have seen breasts better than mine and possibly worse than mine. I just spent two months in physical therapy for a shoulder injury and dislocated ribs and the ill fitting bras were contributing to the problem. So I just went and thought that I would be uncomfortable for 30 minutes or so but the benefits of a well fitting bra would last way longer.
Asia,
I can totally relate to the folding and stuffing! I have lost a lot of volume/density in my breasts so I have stuff and fold too. I can't wait til my weight stabilizes so I can start the process for a breast reduction and breast lift. Right now they are big but not full anymore so it is kind of depressing.
HIgurl,
I would definitely recommend getting fitted for a bra if you are comfortable with the idea. It has made such a difference for me.
Everybody take care!
I'd made my way into an F cup and am looking into breast reduction surgery once I see how the girls are once I'm at goal. I was very surprised to note how much I've already lost in my boobs. I put my hand on my upper chest and it's flat - something that hasn't happened in a very long time. Of course, like many of you mentioned, they are very loose and flabby. A friend of mine who had bypass teased me about tucking them into my waist band later on. At first, I smirked, but then I thought geez, that would sure save money on bras!! But then I thought, now unflattering is that!!??!! LOL! I'm now back into one of my DDD bras, a size I can find at Macys. I couldn't find anything larger than a DDD on this island, so I had to go to a lingerie shop in one of the resorts to get the F cup bra and spent almost $80. I'm so glad to know Nordstrom carries larger sizes.
