I spent this weekend on Molokai visiting friends and family. In a moment of insanity I agreed to hike up Kalaupapa trail on Sunday morning and hike back down Sunday evening. If you aren’t familiar with Kalaupapa trail it is approximately 3 miles long, 26 switchbacks with an elevation of 1700-1800 ft. But I did it! I am still extremely sore but I made it up the trail and back again. I couldn't’t have done this at 351lbs. The last time I hiked the trail it was only one way (down) and it took me 4 days to recover because my knees and ankles were killing me. I am ecstatic that I was able to do this hike. More than the change in appearance, the best thing about this whole process has been that I am able to do a lot of activities I enjoy without pain. When I was at my highest weight I still did all these activities but I paid for it every time with extreme pain and days of recovery. I had forgotten what it was like to be pain free. I am so happy with the way things are going. I will post pics once I have a chance to upload them.

Brinn, that's fantastic!  I've hiked that trial myself (in my 20's before kids and weight gain) and it is a great experience!  How wonderful to do it without pain.  Your weight loss is amazing!  Keep up the great work!

Aloha Brinn-

You truly ARE amazing! The weight loss and the hike.. WOW! I still have Molokoai ferry tickets I need to use from a couple years ago... I hear they never expire... we shall see! I love it over there and I think hubby and I need an extended weekend get-away soon!

Isn't life wonderful when it's pain free?! I can relate! I am SO proud of you!!!! ((hugs))

congrats...................I to am coming to hawaii for the month of November and plan to do things there that I have not been able to do before because of my weight......I plan on going to the swap meet and making thru the whole place without taking 100 breaks..........lol....will still get sunburn on one side.......going to the shopping center and walking instead of taking The Bus....and maybe even going to the next one a few blocks up .........it is so wonderful to not hurt as you said to do things now.....God Bless and happy future adventures with no pain.
