Patience ....
My PCP turned in my sleep apnea request weeks ago, and although I have called the sleep lab in Waimea (BIg Isle) 2 times, I have not heard back from them. I'm beginning to think I should use a lab on Oahu to do this study -- and of course, I'm open to suggestions here.
I have my labwork and chest x-ray set to be done on the 4th of December, and I see the psychologist on December 9th. I guess this is moving along... but at a snails pace.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am very thankful that this is even an option for me and that HMSA will pay for the surgery. I am also thankful for you guys as I have learned so much here.
Aloha,
Nicole
Yes patience is what you need. If there is someone that has patience it is Kanani (HIGurl). She has been here longer than me and will be having surgery in a few short weeks. I am already 11 weeks out. I have no patience I made things happen. That is just me.

I know exactly what you mean. I think when we are anticipating or looking forward to something, time DRAGS! I know even after I had my surgery, I just wanted the weight to fall off NOW! However, looking back, I realize how time really does fly! I am approaching my 6 month mark and down almost 80 pounds. It really does happen!!! The journey is remarkable and you need to focus on each step. I would try "inspiring" the powers-that-be-to get scheduled for whatever tests you need. A few repeated yet polite phone calls will usually get people noticing and moving. Call, call, call!
Be very thankful that you have insurance covering this for you. That really is a blessing and you're very fortunate!! Your journey has begun and that took all your financial woes out of the formula so you can relax and concentrate on taking care of YOU and being successful!!
Never be afraid to express your concern to ANY office or business and let them know your concerns about service.... in a nice way, of course! Where I work, we are VERY customer service oriented and an unreturned phone call is unacceptable. Not all places operate that way here in Hawaii, though. It may be due to the more transient society we have here and a more relaxed attitude. I don't know, but I do know if someone tells me that they've not had returned call, I personally handle it until they are satisfied and then some!
Best to you on your journey and try to enjoy each step. I have no patience either, so I know how hard it is. Just remember, one day you'll blink and 6 months will have gone by!!!!!!!! It really happens!!!!
((hugs))

Like HiGurl -- I'm two weeks away from the big day! Gave up my coffee today.....I miss it already!
Nicole -- you will get there and maybe you might want to go ahead and call somewhere on Oahu as a backup in case they have some sort of waiting list!
Patience is not my strong suit either. I know exactly what you mean. Especially when it's out of your control.
Like Makena said, if someone leaves me a message, it's only right to respond. And, in a timely manner. I guess all you can do is follow up, follow up, and follow up some more.
You'll be on the losers bench with all these wonderful people before you know it.
Although I don't post very often, I do read everything. I too appreciate all the people here and I love reading and following everyone's journey.
