Good Morning

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Halloween. I love Halloween in Waikiki. Waikiki was a mad house last night but it was a lot of fun to see all the costumes.

There were fairies, some bad, some good, goblins, trolls, breathalyzers, gladiators, nurses, vampires, and some that I couldn't identify. Anime characters, video game characters, even Mario and Luigi!

On a different note, we didn't get any trick or treaters at our house. Some of my co-workers said it was the same for them. Were there just less trick or treaters or did they all go somewhere else? Did anyone else experience this? So I brought all the candy to work so I won't be tempted to eat it myself.

Good idea, Brinn.... or pass it out to the homeless. Lots of sugar there for energy and no calories for you to contend with.

It's always pretty quiet here on Maui where we are. There are local parties and I believe they have trick or treating for the kids at the mall. Probably a safer environment these days. A bit sad it has come to that.

I think there are some who find it healthier to not do the candy thing with the kids, too. Either have a home party with their friends, or just substitute candy for some kind of present instead. We spoke about this at Thursday night's meeting with Dr. C and these ideas were suggested.

Lahaina is usually the hot spot here on Maui, so that is one place we stay clear of on Halloween night. Gets a bit too crazy for us. They used to close the street to traffic, but I believe that this year they were still expecting the 30,000-ish people, but weren't going to block off traffic. Not my idea of a good time! Supposedly they were going to up police protection as well. Who knows. I haven't read any of the stories yet or listened to the news yet this morning.

Anyway!!!! Happy November!!!!!!!! Felt a bit funny not having candy around the house, but don't really miss it either! One holiday down, three to go!!!!! Have to figure out what I am going to do with all the extra time I have since I won't be baking the tons of different cookies I usually make! Should make for a LOT less stressful holiday season! Will have to change my focus!

Take care and best to you always!

My children when to the nearby church/school that had a free fair.  The children win candy by playing games.  They came home with so much candy.  I bagged it and put is away for them.  I am not tempted at all.  And yes there is little trick or treaters.  I think the kids think they are too cool to do it.  Another thing is that we as parents are more cautious about our children.  We don't let the children just go off by themselves anymore.  They always have an adult with them.  I remember when I was in 4th grade (9 years old) and going up and down the street by myself.  I would never let my 9 year old go out at night by themselves or even with their brother and sister.  I think this is the reason.
