Heart attack?!?! I went to the ER for heart burn!

Kinda funny- scarey story about my weekend...

So I had really bad heartburn all day long on saturday- couldent kick it! I tired everything i could get my hands on...So DH said we should go to the ER and just get something to make it go away... Felt really silly, buuut i was in alot of pain... so we get my Mom to watch the kid, and go to the ER,

The doctor there says he doesent think its heartburn, but he thinks i have something wrong with my heart...I was in SHOCK!! So we go thru all the tests, and all the Meds- they gave me nitroglycreen(sp) and that stuff droped my BP to 82/50 thought i was going to DIE! So they call an abulance to take me to tripler, to the ICU.... And after another round of tests and monitor and pokes and prods...

turns out I have Heart Burn!

They give me a bunch of meds- inculding some lidicain(sp) to numb everything up... and it worked...

So yea... a whole weekend spent in the hosbital, over some heartburn... but i am greatful it wasent a heart attack-  I am to do a barrium test sometime this week to make sure my tummy dident rip open when my band sliped...

Just thought i would let you all know how wonderful my weekend went!!

I am sorry to say this but I am so glad you have heart burn!!! .  I hope you are feeling much better. 

Hope you're feeling better, Jenn. I had a similar thing happen to me. It happened during the night a couple years back. I had never been sick, so I had no idea what was happening to me. The anxiety also took over thinking it might be something really serious and it made things even worse! Hubby took me to the ER and after they did a barrage of tests, they couldn't find anything wrong either and figured it must have been indigestion! Silly, huh?! Still not absolutely sure what it was, but we did discover that I had a large hiatal hernia during my pre-op testing, so we're all convinced now that that was what it was. (Also did EkG and stress test prior to Sx and all is good with the heart! Good to know!)

im really glad u are ok...makes me wonder about Hawaii doctors thought sometimes?? goig thru all that and to find it was just heartburn which is what u thought it was...oh well..better to be safe than sorry...take care

I had a heart attack 8 years ago pre WLS.  About a year ago I have great pain in my chest.  I go to the ER thinking it could be a heart attack...It ended up acid reflux.  2 weeks ago I have the same feeling...since I had coffee and was burping like crazy.  But my pulse was in the low 40's...46 to as low as 43.  I go into the ER and they say I had a second heart attack.  Don't fool around if your not sure.  Brian in Turlock, CA.

So true, Brian!!!!! Thank you for reminding us of that. Chest pain is not to be ignored. I was almost more scared with the anxiety I was feeling since I didn't know what was happening. I thought the anxiety was going to bring on a heart attack!!!!! It was scary. Better to rush to the ER than....
