Went to my doctor's appointment today
Everything went great you can read my blog to get more information. Dr. Fowler's office is sending my paperwork to the insurance company next week. I am in no big rush because the pschologist is booked the whole month of August. So I really have 6 weeks to get my paperwork and testing all together. I have to do a chest x-ray, an Electrocardogram and a sleep apnea study. I am having an appointment with the dietian next Thursday. I will keep you informed.
Aloha

The testing part feels like it takes forever i know, but time will go by quickly....
They may try to sell you the bariatric advantage supplimites(sp) both my Mom and i thought they were awful! YUK! makes me gag to think about it! it was 3 years ago- maybe they have new flavors now, but they were nasty!!! centram makes a good chewable, not to awful tasting... and tums work for your calcum... I am going to ask believe me. The first thing I am going to do is lay off the junk food. You know the chips, cookies, starbucks frappicinos, sodas and any other sugary food you can think off. I will do this for 2 weeks than I will add in some protein drinks. I talked to the guy at GNC and he said that the Isopure is really good and because many people are lactose intolorant after the surgery it is a good one. I am trying to get down 100 oz of water down right now. I know I can drink 50oz in a sitting. I did that at the appointment. I have to learn to take it slow. The only thing I am happy about is that my first couple test after the surgery will be Thanksgiving and Christmas. The two biggest eating days of the year. If everything goes smoothly I will be able to eat Thanksgiving however I have to learn that my will be 100X bigger than my stomach. Before they were 10X.
Thanks for all the support.
Thanks for to WooHoo!!! I just got back from GNC and bought their card and some protein shakes to test the waters. Which ones do you recommend. I bought the Isopure Mango/Peach and the Whey Isolate 28 in chocolate. After gaining weight to get the surgery now I want to lose weight. Isn't life so ironic.
I like the Chocolate Caramel whey protein shake mix. I also go the Cookies & Cream, but I don't care for that as much. I'll drink it when I need to just to use it up, though. I got some of the little protein puddings... vanilla and banana. Haven't tried regular chocolate and the guy at the store preferred them the least so I didn't try them yet.
I also got some Any Whey.... the flavorless powdered protein that can be added to foods. Everyone seems to have different tastes and your tastes can change after surgery, so I wouldn't invest too much in any one thing.
For a while, I found all the sweetness of chocolate, vanilla, etc. and even all the fruity flavors to be overwhelming. I felt like I was defeating my purpose because everything I was eating was sweet and sugary and flavored as such! Hard to think "Lose weight" when I was consuming all puddings and shake-like concoctions! That's what I was trying to get away from!
I was a big FF chicken broth fan. Sometimes I'd kick in a splash of shoyu for added flavor. SF Jell-o is also my friend. Hubby makes our own frozen treats using SF Jell-o, SF Kool Aid, and Splenda that are literally guilt free and count toward fluid intake.... and cheaper to make than the SF name brand.
Hmmm... what was the question?
