Anyone have Dr. Lapschies for their surgery?  Any thoughts and comments would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, I had Dr. Lapschies when I had my Adjustible Lap Band put in on 12/7/04.  I believe he was one of the first Doctors in Hawaii to do the lap band.   My surgery went very well, no complications, no problems.  He was a bit more expensive than other doctors, but I feel I got what I paid for.  He was always very professional, very nice, and very understanding.  I felt safe going into surgery with him. If you have any other specific questions, just ask. Aloha, Paula

Thanks for the response.  I  have my first appointment with him next week.  So you like your band??  Do you still get fills? Thanks! Gretchen

Hi Gretchen, contrary to all that I have read on line, I have only had 1 fill, a tiny one, in July 2005.  Dr. Lapschies put a tight band on me so I still have a lot of restriction.  I've gained some weight back, which frustrates me, but it's not because I don't have the restriction.  My problem is grazing, which I do mostly when I am on the computer, at work and at home, especially at home in the evening.  But if I'm away from food I'm fine. If I go out I eat an energy bar, drink lots of water, and I'm good for a long time. You should go on: Lapbandtalk.com.  Go to the forums, go to USA, go to Hawaii board.  Most of the people are from Dr. Fowler at Castle Hospital, but they're very active on the board. Good Luck, Paula P.S. you can call me at work 971-7199.

hi- I was wondering why you left the Tripler program, if you dont mind me asking? I was part of their program also.  And I now have a consult to see Dr. Lapschies.  My name is Sara and I hope to hear back from you,

He's a good surgeon.  I had my surgery 7/28/08.  I'm still feeling light headed and nauseau's.  I was at Tripler, and decided to have my surgery outside.  Still feeling light headed.  You need to do your own research to find out what works for you.
