moving to Hawaii

We are a military family and will be moving to Hawaii in March. I am so excited and nervious. I have a great support system in WA thru the Hospital Gastric bypass support groups. They meet every week 2x a week so everyone has a chance to make it. I have so much invested in myself at this point that I dont want to crash when I get there. Do you know of any support groups offered thru the military or civilian? Thanks-Shelby

Shelby, You could check w/Tripler Hospital or w/Queens Hospital......If you don't have any luck w/them I will call my friend who had Gastric Bypass and find out some more info for you....ok . Do you know what base you will be on? Alice

Shelby, I am so sorry to say....but no.....here in Hawaii if  you had surgery here there are tons of support groups...but if you didnt then they arent open to you. I moved from the mainland to hawaii in 2003 and have been so lost since....I have met a couple of people from here....but for the most part......people arent to socialable. I started an online support group at yahoo for hawaii....but like I said....no activity.... I live in kaneohe and would love to meet and get together and have our own small sessions if ya want!!
