Hi Michelle, For an explanation of the MGB, check out CLOS.NET.  You can get a more comprehensive understanding there than I'd be able to explain. Tom

My surgery was done laproscopically which means 5 small incisions 1/4" to 1/2" in size for each one. No rewiring of the intestines. He removed 85% of my tummy. I wanted it to be a done deal. A permanent lifestyle change. Git 'er done and over with, you know?

Did you have a chance to do a WLS consultation yet? Good luck.......and don't forget to visit each and every WLS forum here at OH. There is a wealth of info here. Ask tons of questions.

aloha from kauai,

At the time of my surgery, I was given the smaller band, so after years the band had slipped and was too tight, so they had to remove the band and replace it with the larger band.  It was a simple surgery and I am still loosing weight.  Please feel free to ask any other questions. Linda

Hi Linda

I didn't know there were different sizes of bands. How many different sizes are there? When I was researching way back in the beginning, LapBand was my first choice as I didn't know of the VSG yet. I heard that the fills and unfills of the band cost you $ out of pocket. How much do you pay each time for fills and unfills? I heard $300 each time. Is that true?
