My husband has asked me to remarry him in Hawaii. The problem is I do not know which Island to go to. We want an area that has beautiful waterfalls and where we can go to a Luau (sp) at night. We also need somewhere that are kids 11 & 13 will not get bored. We are not going until aug 2008. Just wanted an idea so I could start preparing for the expenses. Thaniks for your help. Darlene

Oahu is the busiest island and the most crowded. However, it does have the most to do. A lot more activities for the kids. I like the higher level of energy here and the access to the beaches are great. If you go to the northshore it is slower paced and has some great beaches. Oahu normally has something for everyone. Maui has beach access and has a small town Lahaina. Great little shopping. You can also do whale watching and you can take a ferry to Lanai. I know quite a few people get married in Maui. Although I have not made it to north Maui - it is said to be very beautiful. Big Island is big, but sparse. The beaches are difficult to get to. There are a lot of waterfalls in the Hilo side, but it rains a lot. I just moved back to Oahu from there and although there are some nice overlooks, that is about all there is. Kauai is a great place if you wan****erfalls. It is the garden isle and is very lush. I am sure you could find some luau there and that perfec****erfall for that perfect backdrop. It is a smaller and slower island, so the pace is very very relaxed.

Hi Darlene! My husband & I just re-newed our vows in April 05 in Makena which is on Maui. We did it at sunset and it was the most beautiful experience. We've been to Oahu and Maui & like Maui better because it is more laid back. Our son loves it there! He's almost 12. There's plenty to do, luaus, beautiful waterfalls! Look up the road to Hana, it's an all day trip & you will see some of the most beautiful scenery! Rev Al Terry performed our ceremony and he is the MOST gentle man you will ever meet and his wife is fabulous! This is their website http://www.revalapaki.com/ He sung to us and we danced in our circle of flowers. We did everything the way we wanted to & they were very accomodating & kept in touch. They even gave us a reduced rate because they knew my husband was coming home from serving in Iraq & they appreciated his service! I hope that might get you started! Good luck and enjoy! Lisa

I live on Kauai. I haven't seen all of the islands, only Hawaii and Oahu. As far as romance and renewing vows I would say Kauai. It's beautiful, lush, flowers everywhere, laid back and definately relaxed. The beaches are great here. If your kids like the beach, swimming, body boarding, and snorkeling, they will be plenty entertained here. Other then that, not much to do for anyone. Lots of hiking, cool hidden waterfalls and kayaking if you/they are the adventerous types. Oahu is definately busier, more shopping, street entertainers, it's fun but I wouldn't consider it very romantic. Not from the 'living in Hawaii' standpoint. Email if you have any specific questions.

Check out these articles/sites: http://www.cnn.com/2006/TRAVEL/DESTINATIONS/09/06/hawaii.on.the.cheap.ap/index.html http://www.gohawaii.com/ They pretty much hit the nail on the head with what to do, where to go, cost, etc.
