Mine is not a totally liquid diet. But it does consist of high-protein low calorie foods. It is an 800-calorie diet and the first two days I thought I was going to die! LOL but, now I am handling it just fine and finding that I am having trouble getting the required amount of meals in each day. The doctor's office informed me that it is two-fold. First is to help the post-op adjustment 2nd is most important in that it helps reduce the size of the stomach & liver prior to surgery. If the liver is too large and cannot be moved out of the way with laproscopic equipment, then they must do an abdominal cut which means longer time in the hospital & for recovery. Hope this helps you!
hi tracy,
i am a tracy too who is also pre-op. i would love to somehow get a copy of your pre op diet plan. my surgery will be down at henry ford and i have to lose 30-40 lbs before my next consult on may 13th. they don't give you a specific plan to follow. can you please let me know? maybe you could mail me a copy. i would sooooooo appreciate it.
