Hi,
I'm a school psychologist with Atlanta Public Schools. Just decided that I would like to get a lap band after going back and forth about it for several months. Foolishly, I assumed since I had such great insurance, United Health Care Choice Plus, that the surgery would be covered. I realized tonight that it isn't. APS, took it off their contract plan at the beginning of 2012. I plan to look into other health care plans during our open enrollment period in a couple of months. This is the only time we are allowed to change insurance coverage. I'm wondering if anyone in this Georgia forum happens to work for APS and has had surgery via one of the other healthcare choices.
Very sad about this! Thanks.
I am sure whatever date you choose, you will be fine. If you go with the November date, you will be a couple of sizes smaller by Christmas!

Do anyone knows of a surgeon in Ga. that accepts Aetna to have a panni done.I have current lost 117lbs which I am happy with but needs to loss about 10 more but this big flab of fat is always in the way and is very aggravating..Ughhh!!! Can anyone give me some advice or what the next step should I take..I will appreciate it very much...Thanks in advance...
They do the surgery on Mondays, so I'm vascillating between Nov. 12th and December 3rd. My sister is having a baby in February, and if I time my FMLA right, I can be out when the baby comes. But if I go ahead and have the surgery on Nov. 12th, I can still go to my husband's office Christmas party... and look smokin' hot. Also, I'd start my liquid diet the Monday before Halloween, which would give me a chance to have one last night out. (Kidding. Okay, not kidding.)
Thoughts?
Thanks for all the replies. Maybe the problem was that, because I worked nights, I just wasn't availble to wait around all day for a phone call. In addition, this all happened right around July 1st, which is the end of the insurance year for most people.
Since the insurance approval, I've worked with Cindy and Traci, and they have been amazing. Traci is kind of a rock star. I wouldn't discourage anyone from choosing this particular practice, but I would advise that they be persistant.
