Maria, I'm so sorry you are disappointed in your band.
Congratulations on your weight loss and success on your own. I wish you continued success.

Topic: RE: SHBP Cigna HRA...DS surgeon?
Susan, you may want to consider Surgeons from other states too. I traveled out of state to Nashville TN for my DS. I found it to be an easy process.
Dennis Smith is in Marietta, but I'm not sure if he ever got in network with shbp? He's been trying to get in network for a few years.
If Smith is not in network, I would definitely reccomend Dr. Chasen. I would not put off my surgery waiting for Dr. Smith to get his act together.
Whatever you do, don't get frustrated and settle for a different wls because the DS is not as accesible. Many of us have to travel and make sacrifices for the DS, but it is well worth the easily manageble lifestyle and excellent results.

I used Dr. Chasen in Augusta and he is awesome. If you want to know anything about him let me know. One of my best friends is having surgery with him Dec 7. She is really excited. Good luck to you. Have you completed all of your requirements?

Hi everyone,
I have SHBP Cigna HRA insurance and am looking to have the DS. Does anyone know if there are surgeons in GA that perform this and are part of the Cigna network? Thanks so much!!

Maria, Maria, Maria!
I know you've struggled with your band, but I am very proud of you for the progress you've made despite not being able to get restriction. That in itself is a testement to what a strong and determined woman you are.
Congrats on making it through year #1!
I know it may seem like we Ds'ers and rny'ers have it easy and have miracle, magical surgeries, but believe me we all have our share of sacrifices to get to where we are. The grass may not be as green in my yard as you imagine.
Don't beat yourself up too much about choosing your band. You did the best you could with the knowledge you had and the advice your surgeon gave you.
I appreciate your honesty in sharing your experience with the band and risking getting bashed by the banders on here. Maybe your story will make a newbie pause and consider their wls choice a little more carefully.
At any rate, I'm popping open a bottle of champagne in honor of you surviving that 1st year, and all the fills, and all the visits with the scale, and the drama with your surgeon's office :-)
And most of all I second Cheryl's comment. 50 pounds is an accomplishment worthy of praise whether the band got it off or you did it on your own. You are looking great, and should be proud of yourself.
I am crossing my fingers for a better second year than the first! You ain't dead yet, so don't feel defeated. This battle is not over yet!

But I have only lost that through starving my self! That is why I paid what I did to have WLS surgery......to b a healthier weight WITHOUT starving my self! No one wants to go around feeling hungry most of the time.
I have completely changed my eating habits n I eat healthier foods and I am proud of that accomplishment. I don't consider myself unsuccessful, I consider the BAND unsuccessful!!
Btw..........I see your ticker. 1 lb. form goal! That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!

You have lost over 50 pounds! How can you consider yourself unsucessfull? I remember many times when I said to my self, "if I could only lose 50 pounds, I would be happy..."
Celebrate the success you have gained, and keep plugging away! Please don't be sad.
