New to the Board
Hi everyone! I am relatively new to the board, and am happy to see that there is a strong ATL contingent. I will be having the LapBand done by Dr. Duncan, but have not yet been approved by my insurance. It's great that y'all get together each month, is there anything planned yet for May? Also, I am curious if there is anyone in the local area (that goes to these events) that's had the LapBand done? It seems like most everyone is a RNY devotee. Well, anyway, thanks for listening, and hopefully I will meet some of you at the next function. Take care!

My company's CEO had the lapband in January, and has had three adjustments, and has lost nothing since the surgery. She is not happy. Another person I know just had it removed for the same reason. I had the RNY in Feb. and have lost 52 pounds. Our office manager also had the RNY in March and has lost 50 pounds. I'm sure there must be some that do the lapband and have good results. I almost did that myself, and am grateful now that I had the RNY. I hope if there are others that have had success with the lapband that they will respond, so I can show these posts to her as well. I wish I had some encouraging words for you, and her.

Hi Kara,
After reading some of the other posts I wanted to ENCOURAGE you about lap-band. I had it 4 months ago and have lost 32 pounds. I feel fabulous and had a very quick recovery. While this Georgia board is great, I also encourage you to check out the dedicated LapBand message board. All banders live there and everyone really shares the issues that are specific to us and our WLS. I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Duncan. I've even seen him on Fox5 Good Day Atlanta a time or two..
