Once I decide I want to have TT, do I talk to my PCP first or do I go see ps first. What steps should I take to be successful in the end. I am 3 years post op and down 100lbs. I have access weight in my stomach but it's not too flabby. It's kinda solid. I also have loose skin under my arm near my breast. It really became noticeable after breast reduction surgery. So where would you suggest I start. Thanks for your help in any direction. Barbara

Barbara, my gastric bypass dr gave me a referrel for the PS, I also backed that up with a referrel from my PCP, once I received those, I then went to the ps. I had my tummy tuck this past tuesday. my process started in nov, I was approved in Jan, but because of work and other things I had to postpone my surgery until April. All is done and all is good. I wish you luck my insurance is BCBS Tina

I am also beginning the process of checking on plastic surgery. I saw a doctor last week who as much as said that insurance probably wouldn't pay enough and that the surgeries I need would come to about $15,000.00! I wonder if others have had success with finding surgeons who take insurance. I have a documented history of carbuncles, etc. Also, I live in Cobb County and wonder who did your surgery,Tina. Any insights would be appreciated. Sandy

Sandy, I went to Dr Fredrick Work, his number is 404 885 9675, he is a wonderful dr and he takes the time to answer questions for you, just as important he has a very informitive staff. my insurance paid for alot, to have the complete tummy tuck, I had to pay 5,000.00 over what the insurance would not pay. I know that BCBS would pay for the removal of the overlapping skin, which is called a mini-tummy tuck, for the ins co to pay for that it has to be deemed "medically needed" which it needs to be documented with your PCP and/or surgeon. for example: rashes under the overlaying skin, ordor, infection, things like that. if I can help just let me know, good luck Tina

Thanks, Tina. I'm sure any of us considering surgery need all the info we can get. I'll certainly follow up on this! Sandy
