Insurance will not pay! What can I do now?

Hi! I am very new here but really wanted some help. I am 22 years old and obese (obviously!). My doctor has recommended gastric bypass and sent my info. to Dr. Richards office. The only problem I have is the insurance company. I have Blue Cross HMO with my employer and they (BCBS) have a written exclusion that they will not cover the surgery even with medical necessity. I looked into getting a personal policy that would cover the procedure but can't find anyone who will! Does anyone know of any companies that will help me. I can pay up to $300 a month for a policy because my company will reimburse me but I can't find anybody! Please help if possible! Thanks! Erika

I am sorry to hear about your insurance problems. Have you thought about paying for it out of pocket? There are some doctors and hospitals that charge a reasonable ammount that can be financed thru a credit company. Good luck! Cynde

There is no way that I can pay this out of pocket, even with the financing. I have thought about this as well. Thank you so much for your reply and suggestion!

My pcp put in my letter to the insurance it said that I suffered from gerd. My surgeon is putting that I need that surgery and it is the same as fobi . So I got my covered
