Hi everyone ... Well I had surg.Jan 29 th and I feel great . 58 lbs down . Had a time with the ins.Comp. But they called surgs office and gave a precrt # . Now I have got the 30,000 dollar bill the ins has came back to say there was a mix up and that there is no coverage and the are not paying a dime . How can they do that its not fair ..... They said that the precrt was done to say that yes I did need the surg ... Has anyone heard of this before dr office told me that they will help me lower the bill and they will talk with hospital about the bill..What to do now if I would have had 30 to 40 thou. I would have paid cash years ago....Help anyone thanks aimee

Call a lawyer that handles ins. problems and damn good luck...that was pretty crapy and I don't see how they could say they would pay and than reneg....I don't see how the fee could be put on you. Cheri

Wow - I would be honest and tell the hospital "hey I will make some payments but I don't have that kind of money - take it up with my insurance who said they were covering it" Of course I am not a lawyer and have never been in that situation but you had the surgery on the good faith of your insurance company that they were paying for it - do you have a confirmation number by chance? Not sure which doctor/hospital did your surgery but my doc wouldn't even see me for a consult until I had insurance confirmation. Just a thought. Good luck with this and please keep us informed how it goes. Kia

I would definitely call the Insurance Commissioner's office and speak with someone there. Mind you, I was a cash pay patient, but I knew what the bill was going to be before I had the surgery. But for the insurance company to say that they would cover the surgery, and then they dont...is very CRAPPY!!! Norma
