Just wondering if any of you used Emory Bariatrics for your surgery? I am looking for a doctor in the Marietta / Atlanta area who accepts BCBS HMO to do Lap Band. Emory Bariatrics accepts my insurance - has anyone used them? Thanks, Ann Marietta, Ga.

Hey Ann, I used them. I had BCBS POS and had lap Roux-Y with C Daniel Smith. I found him to be an exceptional doctor. I would use him all over agian I thought him to be a great surgeon. He is also the head honcho there and knows his stuff. Check out my profile I detailed everthing and you will see a time line on how long it took to have everything done. -NAT

Hi Ann, I used Dr. Khaitan at Crawford Long. She was awesome. I also have a network of friends that used the same group. I would encourage you to check out their practice. If you have any questions etc. please feel free to contact me. Good luck in your journey!! Meg Underwood

You should be able to get a good feel for them after visiting with them and discussing you surgery options including lapband. Maybe go to a support group of thiers if they have one. This way you could talk with the people who had surgery with them. I dont really have any information at all about them.

Hi! I used Dr. Edward Lin and absolutely loved him. Like the others said, his administrative staff leaves something to be desired (and I used to work for Emory and it was still a pain in the butt dealing with them). However, once you get past the office yahoos, the surgeons are great. Last I heard (and this was almost two years ago), BCBS GA wasn't paying for the Lap Band because it was considered an "investigational" surgery. That's what I wanted originally, but when I found out BC wouldn't pay for it I pursued other options. Good luck to you! Ginger
