Hello, I'm flying to Houston Tuesday. My son is scheduled for rny on Thursday. My question is...will he be in a lot of pain after surgery? Thanks, Karen...

Yep. Well, I was but I hear a lot of people say they were not. The morphine pump was not my friend but for those who tolerate it well I understand that is a great help. I also had never had surgery before so I was not ready for the post-op pain I had. I only expected the gas pain I had heard about. The good news is the pain goes away quickly and it's kind of like childbirth in that you forget the pain as you enjoy the tremendous benefits of the surgery. It's only temporary and it's all worth it.

for me the first three days were pretty rough and the morphine did not help me so I only used it once. If someone had just told me that after the first three days it starts getting a lot better every day after that I would have tolerated it better. Good luck to you son! Judy E
