Excruciating pain @ 19 months!

I wanted to know if anyone ever experienced anything like what happened to me last night. Possible food poisoning...but my husband had a chick-fil-a grilled chick salad just the same as me, unless mine came from a different stack. I also had a small carrot salad just prior to the chicken. Within 30 minutes stomach rolling, felt like an explosion going in lower intestines....food had gone down as easily as it could possibly have. No trouble with pouch. Pain escalated...huge cramps, debilitating...I sat on the side of bed bent to knees ...no relief..I took GasX hoping it was gas...no help whatsoever. I tried laying, sitting, standing...nothing helped. This went on for about 4 hours....culminating in nauseous dry heaves 3x over the 1.5-2 hours. I have NEVER experienced such pain before or since surgery. Could it have been a delayed reaction to the carrots??? though Ive never had trouble. They were shredded very, very finely it seemed. I did think that as I was eating and swallowing, but again, this was not pouch trouble. Ive never had food poisoning so I dont know. I just came very, very close to giving up and going to ER...but just toughed it out. I was exhausted after the whole deal and stilll am this morning.

I'm sorry to hear you were in so much pain last night, are you feeling better today? If not I'd go to the ER. Keep us posted. Tammy Gunter

If you're still in pain go to the Hospital. If not, then I'd wager to say it was probably food poidioning or a severe case of dumping. Carrots are high in natural sugars and could have caused you to dump. Please let us know how you're feeling today

Joyce! Sorry to hear about your ordeal. It doesn't sound like a poisoning to me --I'd expect you to mention diarrhea or vomiting rather than just dry heaves. Are you sure it was intestinal rather than Gynecological? In any case if it still persists, I'd contact your surgeon and/or PCP and follow their directions rather than just show up in ER. I hope you feel better soon , Rita
