Hello, I attended the seminar on Tuesday with Dr. Duncan. I am hoping to have Lap Band surgery soon. I know this was the first step on many! I am ready to being my journey! Just wondering if any of you were "banded" by Dr. Duncan and his group? If so, I would love to hear your comments about the whole experience. Also, even if you used a different doctor, I'd love to hear your comments about the "band" in general. I have read & researched and I am sure this is what I want to do. Needless to say, I am nervous but excited! Here are a few questions (but any comments are welcome) 1. I'm a little confused on one thing - are you supposed to eat foods that will not go directly thur the band? Foods that are more solid and would take more time to pass thru? Is this what makes you feel full? 2. Do they go thru your belly button to place the band? 3. I am SO worried about hair loss. I have a head full and I want to keep it I have read all about taking the supplements but I wondered it you had experienced this? 4. Do you have problems eatting at "normal" resturants? I look forward to hearing from you guys. Thanks in advance for the info. Ann Marietta

I can't help you on the lap band procedure but I can on Dr Duncan's office. I had the RNY and they have all been the best. There has not been a single moment that they didn't take every min necessary to make sure I was completely educated and fully aware. I can make a call anytime and get answers to anything I ask from the staff. If you have chosen the lap band, I say you are on the right trail. You will never be dissatisfied with Peachtree Bariactrics.

Hi Ann I had Lapband surgery 8/28/05 and have lost 60lbs. so far. I used Dr. Dennis Smith with Advanced Obisity surgery in Marietta, I have nothing but great things to say about him. Fell free to e-mail me if you like with any questions. Southern Girl 280/223/180

Hi Ann, I thought I'd chime in here, since you are getting so much feedback. 1. The Bandster diet encourages you to eat solid foods (after the healing phase) so that you will feel fuller longer. You can eat mushy food such as mashed potatoes, puddings, etc., but they will slide through the banded part of the stomach quickly and you will be hungry much quicker than if you ate all solid foods. 2. They did with me. I had my band installed laproscopically (sp?). I had five incision sites (whi*****luded the belly button) for the equipment. The longest incision site is about 1-1/2", while the others are very small (1/2" max), and you can't see the belly button scar. 3. I started taking Biotin 1500mg daily two weeks before surgery and I haven't noticed a lot of hair loss. 4. Not really. Sometimes it is hard to find something that is low calorie. However, I can eat almost anything on the menu as long as I go very, very slow and chew, chew, chew. I may, however, only eat a few bites of it before I'm full. Good Luck! Joanna
