Do I have to eat???
I do not know whats going on. I went through a spell where I was able to eat a good deal. Then I got sick and my portions got smaller. Now I am finding that I have to FORCE myself to eat. I am not in any pain or anything. Food just doesnt appeal to me. I am burnt out on eating chicken. Is this normal???? I never in my life thought I would feel this way. I now understand the saying, "I do not live to eat, but eat to live". Anyone else going through this? Honestly, I rather have a protein shake than actually having to put food in my mouth, lol
Hugs!

Hey Kim,
yes i feel the same way sometimes.. much rather have a protein shake than eat, food just doesn't appeal to me anymore either, i used to love to eat, now it is just a thing to do. I am almost 3 months out and have lost 57 lbs. Losing so much weight this quick tells me one thing.. I ATE TOO MUCH all the time....
i get tired of chicken also, rather have veggies now.. i like them grilled, they are so good..
so i guess i am not the only like that, it is good to know.
Love Tammy
When I was 3 months out, I could eat more than most. I was eating maybe close to 1 1/2 cup of food. I am almost 7 months now and food just doesnt look good, lol Its been really hard this past week getting in enough protein. I have been getting in all my vitamins, which is a good thing! I also jsut started wearing the birth control patch last Sunday. Wonder if that has anything to do with it as well? Dont know!
Love,
Kim
Kim,
I have a question. You said that when you were three months out you could eat a cup and a half of food. Did you still lose the weight? I'm just about two month's out and sometime's can eat almost that amount. I'm afraid that I could be in trouble here. I'm walking almost everyday however; since I don't have a scale I'm not sure if I'm dropping the right amount of weight. Thank's for your response, Evelyn
I still lost weight, but it slowed down some. I think i was over doing it. Thats why I ended up at the hospital not to long ago getting test done. Just be careful not to over do it. When you start to feel full, push away from the plate. I am sure you are doing wonderfully! Just remeber, everyone is different and their bodies are not the same. If you get worried, call your doctor. They can give you advice.

Hi Kim,
It took me about 6 months before I ever got hungry to begin with... Like Tonya said, it comes back with a vengance....
I was very concerned about having stretched my pouch, cause I too could eat more than what everyone else appeared to eat. But a few weeks ago when I was being tested for my gall bladder, I got to see my pouch... both in the upper gi, and when they did the endoscope. I was pleasantly surprised to see my little bitty pouch had not been stretched out at all.
I'm glad my doctor put me back on solids at 12 days... It gave me the variety I needed not to get bored. I remember watching my best friend who had used Dr. Duncan, and wondering if I would survive the awful diet she had to endure.... the lack of all the things that I really enjoyed... for such a long time. But luckily my surgeon didn't make us do that. I have lost 120lbs, and don't feel like I have been deprived of much at all. Sometimes when I am eating, I wish I had been more restricted. But after seeing my little pouch is still so tiny, I am thankful that I could eat.
Also, you really do need to eat... even if you have to force yourself. Your body will think it is being starved if you don't eat, and the weight loss will slow dramatically... trying to hold on to everything it can to survive. If you can't manage to stomach anything else, by all means, atleast do a protien shake. Atleast that way, you are getting in some protien. But remind yourself frequently during those times that your gonna have to eat something.
If it gets to be too habit forming, you will need to see your surgeon to make sure there is something wrong that is causing you to not want to eat.
Hugs,
Susan
Hi Susan!
I am sorry its taken me a few days to respond. I really didnt mind the restrictions on eating after surgery. Just the thought of certain foods that I use to love, sounded so gross, lol
I am doing much better than what I was. I went grocery shopping and bought a few different things. I think it was just being bored with what I was eating. I tried some of those Vagan Burgers today, and i have to say, I liked it. Not to bad for a meatless burger, lol 13 grams of protien. It really hit the spot for the grilled burger that I was craving today.
If anything should go wrong, I will be sure to call my doctors office!
Hugs!
Kim
