re: 1 yr today

Hello everyone: About 1 year today I was under on the table taking this step to change my life. In the past year after this surgery, I am happy to say I do not regret having this done. I am a different person, love the way I look, the exercise I do, the way I can get around, the way the clothes fit on me, the chairs I can sit in, the sex is better, the compliments I get, the way I can squeeze by a crowded group of tables and my butt does not rub the person on their back or I have to hold my breath and hope I don't knock something over. Yes, I am blessed to say that I have not had any complications from the day I got up to walk around the hospital to this moment. I pray that I continue to feel good about this change in my life. The only thing I know that I need to be aware of is that I can not continue to nibble a little piece of this and that and think it will be alright. I don't know what this doctor did but I can tolerate some sugar and eat carbs without getting sick. I do get suddenly hot when I have had a little too much of the forbidden items that we ate before this surgery. I hope that my will power will return soon for I have about 50 more pounds to loose to reach my goal. Anyone who is thinking about having this surgery, it will the best thing you can give yourself. I thought I would miss the things I enjoyed the most, food, but I don't miss those things since I can have them, but in limited amounts. Yes, go for it, you will be much happier when you see the results. Thank you for all your friendships and efforts on this board. Mary

I enjoyed your post Mary, My little three year old daughter, Autumn, is asleep beside me and I was watching her sleep before I signed on and I wondered was I making a wise choice with this surgery? What if this decision takes me out of their lives? She would never remember me. I pray alot about this and I feel that I have me answer but sometimes it creeps up on you..the "what if's" Out of nowhere. I am excited but scared too and reading encouraging posts like yours keeps me on track. Thanks and best wishes! Lorie
