I have had my first consultation with the surgeon, met with the psychologist and internist. All blood work has been completed and will do the gall bladder ultrasound and chest x-ray tomorrow. Only thing holding things up is my AIC - I've got to get it under 7 before they will operate. The internist started me on a new medicine for my diabetes, Byetta, felt really strange the first 3 or 4 days (nausea, light headedness, etc.) but am doing Ok now. One positive side effect to Byetta is that you are not hundry at all - I think I dropped 6 lbs. in 3 days. The Dr. said this is normal - most people drop 10 to 12 lbs. then it stabilizes. The waiting is really nerve wracking. Has anyone else had to wait for their AIC to go down? How long did you have to wait?
Hi...I have not had surgery (just considering it, again) I was put on Byetta in November because my A1C was 10.1%. I have gone up to the 10 mcg dose and had a time with nausea. I am dizzy and jittery. But I have lost 15 pounds. I fill up fast and do not really fill hungry. I know after a couple of months on this, my A1C was 8.1. I guess in 2 months I will know if it has gone down even more. My glucose looks a whole lot better, so it should. I know this did not really answer your question, but hang in there. It really is a miracle drug.
