Help! ? travel advice for post-op
Just found out I'm heading to do a 2 week stint for Red Cross (I do Disaster Mental Health Service) & will be doing counseling. I have to fly, so can't take much with me. Leave Thursday, and don't know where I will be staying, where I will work, if I will have access to a car.
The food provided will likely be little that I can eat. I'm 6 months out, but my pouch is a little picky. I have done great at home with water and protein, but can't manage anything with grease, raw veggies. Fruit has too much sugar, just pick at sandwiches to avoid the bread. Maybe I'm obsessing.... but I'm afraid the food provided won't work for me. I have 2 flavors of protein powder to take. any recommendations on protein bars I can find at CVS / Walgreens / Walmart? I'm out of time to shopt ---- work long days, and fly out Thursday. Help!!!!!
Oh, and please say a prayer I can be of help to the hurricane survivors and relief workers.

Hello,
I am about the same amount out as you are, and like you have a picky pouch...it has its good days and it has its bad ones. One things that works the best for me is peanut butter. I usually carry a little jar with me just in case. I know that you said that some greasey type things dont agree with you, so pb may not work but it is high in protein. Can you tolerate dairy, yogurt and cheese have good amounts of protein in them as well. Depending on where you are going, if you have access to a fridge or ice chest buy some lunch meats from the deli counter, they work well in a pinch too. Hope this helps
