Hey y'all, I am moving from Alpharetta to... hmmm... well, Alpharetta, but I need movers! Can any of you guys recommend reputable movers in the ATL area? Last time I used Atlanta Peach Movers, but they weren't anything to write home about. Any info is much appreciated! We are moving in 2 weeks!

I have used Bulldog movers twice, and they were very good...the only problem that I encountered is moving near the end of the month on a weekend, it can be very hard for them to schedule you...unless you are willing to move during the middle of the week. Hope that this info helps you... Norma

Thank you Norma! I used to live in ******* of GA 400 and exit 15, we moved down to 12 to save on gas, boy has it helped! Now we are moving to the other side of 400 on exit 12, so we are an easy move (I think!). Thank you so much for the recommendation, I have never heard of them and will definitely check them out!

When I bought my current house, I used Buckhead Movers. They sent out 4 big stong guys that gone the job done in record time. They had tons of moving blankets and wrapped up everything. I have a lot of heavy furniture and they never complained. I highly recommend them.

Thank you for the recommendation, I will be checking them out! I know someone who used them, but she didn't recommend them because they ran over her car... The movers we used last time hit our neighbors car, so I think it is just bad luck sometimes in the business with a large truck, tight corners... So, I won't hold that against them. Thanks again!

When I moved, we were living in a condo where the driveway was very small and the streets were tight. I have to confess, I did take my mustang over to a friends house and leave it there. I usually keep it in the driveway since it's a second car. Good thing I did. We would have had issues if they ran over my baby. I hate moving. I don't envy you, but it is so much easier when you hire someone to do it. If I ever have to move again, I'm selling my house as is, furniture and all and buying a motor home or a house boat that's already furnished. Then I'm going to hire someone to pack my clothes and move them. If my teenagers not careful, I'll leave her with the house too!! LOL

You are like my husband, he hates moving with a passion! I have moved every year for I don't know how long and he hates it... he's only been with me for 3 years, so he doesn't know how bad it really is! But, we are buying a townhouse this time, maybe it will keep me settled down for awhile? Anyway, I'm glad your car made it through okay, it was very smart of you to move it!!!! I would freak out if I had a mustang and someone hit it!

There was an article in the Sunday AJC about moving companies. It advised that a checklist was very helpful and you can get a free one at uhaul. An emergency box with stuff you would need for the first few days sounds helpful too. Local movers are regulated by the GA PSC (www.psc.state.ga.us) and the website lists tips and links to the better business bureau. Links to movers nationwide and more tips can be found at www.movers.com. Kroger is a great source for boxes. The egg boxes hold a great amount of stuff, are the same size so they stack really well on handtrucks, and have handles on the sides. I still use them for storage boxes in my garage from a move we made 5 years ago. Also they are free. Good luck, moving can be a stressful time! Marie
