Hello all, While my insurance is deciding whether or not to okay WLS, my husband was fired from his job today, so no more insurance. So I guess I won't be having surgery and will have to start job hunting tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the job problems. I'm about to be laid off, so if you need any ideas for websites that are posting jobs, I have a long list! Hopefully things will get back on track soon, and you'll be able to have surgery.

I'm so sorry Jenean! I hope that things will work out for you and your husband, You know medicaid has been known to pay for the surgery if you qualify, just a thought. Sorry again, Rachel

Can't your husband keep his insurance thru COBRA? Just a thought. Best of luck to you! Take care, Bonnie

Hello all, Thanks for everyone's support. I have checked into Medicaid, but we don't qualify. And my husband can get COBRA but only for 2 months, and it costs $625 per month. The thing that sucks worse, is my doctor's office called yesterday morning to set up a surgery date; I had been approved.

There is no way I would let the cobra go. Keep it for a month and explain to the scheduler at Dr Champions (Kim?) that you have one month to get it done.

I agree with her, take the Cobra and just do it. You are too close to have to start all over. Who is to say that your or your hubby's new health insurance will even cover WLS? Best of luck to you.
