First Steps! and First Questions?
Hi All you Georgia Peaches!
Im new to this state and new to this site! I have done my reserch have read lots of profiles and I love it here! I filled out my WLS packet and sent it in and got a call back Friday from Dr. Duncans office, Im sooo excited! Does anyone know about how long it takes to get through the "red tape" till surgery with Dr. Duncan? And also my BMI is high and Im worried about having to lose a lot before he will do surgery. What if I have to lose 60 pounds and dont make it there before my date? Anyone have any words to calm or fire up my fears?
Hi Stephanie
Welcome to GA, I too moved here from another state. You are on the right track, I'm sure if you talk to Dr. Duncan's staff they will be able to set you more at ease. I'm in So. GA and have a different doctor but from what I've read you're in good hand. It's difficult to tell someone to contain their emotions. I'm 15 days away from surgery. It didn't take that long for me to get through the red take. so I hope yours goes as smoothly as mine has. I wish you well on your WL journey. Remeber there is a lot of support out here for you

He will request that you loose some before the surgery. Usually about 10% of your body weight. He requested I loose 15 but I only lost 10 and he said that was fine. I went to his Seminar last June and I have my surgery this Friday. So it's been 8 months. It was a long time coming. Be patient and persistant. We're all here for you. Read my profile for help and hints. Get a good PCP and see him at least once a month. What insurance do you have?
GOOD LUCK!
What if the Dr. requires you lose weight and you can't. I know the whole purpose is to see if you'll be able to eat right when you're done w/ surgery. From what I understand (I just start seriously looking into this) after the surgery you're basically forced to eat right because you get sick if you eat the wrong things or too much.
