I am ready to get started where do I begin?

I checked with my insurance to be sure WLS was covered, then I picked a doctor and went to my Primary Care Doc for a referral. Try and find a support group in your area too. A great place for referrals and answers. And prayed.. ALOT. Ask any question Cathy,the more informed you are the better choices you will make. Barb hit the topics I would have said but for one other thing: I would start with your PCM FIRST because many insurers require a lengthy (6 monts to 2 years) supervised doctors weight loss/nutrition before they will consider you for WLS. For that reason, even if all you are doing is 'thinking' about it, I would start seeing your doctor on a monthly basis - make sure he/she mentions your weight loss attempts, weighs you and puts all that in your medical history! This way if you decide that this surgery is what you want, you won't be dismayed to find out that you could have had a month or two already covered towards your requirement. Thank you both for your info! I`ve thought about this for a very long time. I asked my DR. about it afew years ago but he said I would`nt like it. I may have to find a new Dr.Their is also an exclusions in our policy{B/c of missouri} I am going to try anyway Ive read that Ga. has a law that insurance co. have to pay . I don`t know if it applies to other insuranceco. from other states. I wont know unless I try. Please pray for me!

You definately want to find a PRO- WLS doctor. They can make all the difference. I would recommend mine, but unless you have Tricare you are out of luck You fight for your health! Kia
