Can't Keep Anything Down - Help!

Well I am about 3 and a half weeks out and have been doing really well until Thursday. I am followed my doctor's menu and instructions, chewing everything into tiny bites and sipping my water all day. Then it went downhill. Thursday night my dinner of 2 bites of salmon, 3 green beans and two bites of mashed potatos came back up. I chalked it up to maybe eating too much. Yesterday at work I had a piece of cantelope as a snack, threw it up. (Mind you I have been eating the same amount of cantelope all week with no problems) Today for lunch I made it through three bites of mac and cheese and back up it came. Is this normal?? I have my follow up appt. with my doc on Monday and of course I plan on asking him, but I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this? I can not chew my food anymore then I am, its liquidfied and I eat so slow that I have decided that I may never again experience hot food! Please say this is normal... Thanks in advance for the feedback! Beth

Beth, I would not wait until Monday to discuss this with your doctor, I would call him today, and let him know what is going on...it sounds like you might have stricture (blockage), and you might need to be scoped. I know that this is not the news you wanted to hear, but please do call your doctor!! This is not something to mess around with. Hope that you get to feeling better soon. Norma

I agree with Norma. Get to your doctor! Meanwhile get in as much liquid nutrition as you can (water, protein shakes, etc). You really really don't want to get dehydrated!

I agree 100% call your doctor. It could be a stricture - or it could be that you body just didn't want those foods. I am 20 months PO ans still have issues with throwing up food. granted is has gotten a LOT better over time - but I still have my days! Let us know what the doctor says! Dee Dee

Well things are a little bit better now. I had some hard boiled egg with mayo yesterday afternoon with no problem, some cheese last night and then some fish and veggies tonight and everything seems to be ok. I think I am just going to stay away from pastas and mashed potatos for now since they seem to be giving me the most problems. It's a huge relief that at least some foods are staying where they are supposed to! Thank you all for your responses! Hugs, Beth
