Hey Everyone, Just thought that I would give everyone an update on everything. As some of you might know, I participated in a research study with Emory University. The whole study was about the surgery and its effects on diabetes. Previous to surgery I was completely insulin dependant, the pancrease(sp?) was not working at all. After talking to my PCP, and getting entirely to close to 300lbs(PCP and I reviewed my medical file and my actual highest weight was like 278lbs) my next set in the whole diabetes thing was the pump, at that time I was 25 and too young to be that sick, I questioned him about surgery (and the look of relief on his face was so funny...c'mon I know I am fat) we started the process in February of 2005 and by July 2005 I was a loser....ok so back to the research....The tests that they have done were amazing, to see the changes WOW....in 6 little months I have gone down 110lbs. The diabetes is long gone(my highest bs was like 83...yes 83 after being like 300-400 everyday for a year) Now I can look back and see so many changes. My self esteem has shot up, I never really relized how low it really was, I feel like I have really gotten to my true self (if that makes any sense) I have started school(working on a BS in Management eff. on Accounting), I feel good, no I feel great. I am happy truely happy. This surgery has been a life saver and an esteem builder. So to my friends who are thinking about having surgery, it is more then worth it, hey and think of it this way you will now be a cheap date....lol.. So a recap: Highest weight: 278 Weight at surgery: 240 Weight now: 156 Total weight loss: 122lbs Ok I'll stop rambling now....lol Erica
