Thanks Dee Dee! I did a lot of research before surgery too. Took me over a year before I had my surgery. i feel the same way you do. I think if we follow the doctors orders, have our lab work done regularly and take our vitamins, I think we will be alright. I am so thankful for having my wls. With every pound that is coming off, i am finding a little bit more of me! If I had to do this all over again, I would in a heartbeat! My life is completely changing. i have so much energy and my self confidence is improving everyday. Thanks again! Kimberly

Kim, girlie... I hope you are not questioning your own decision to have this surgery and are not afraid for your health, but just are concerned in general... .. I've seen these references and discussions on MO boards...and I've read articles...lots of them....and I had been trained to read and evaluate articles as a part of my graduate medical training ...And honestly, I haven't seen one published artcle yet that would be combination of well-designed, objective, and statistcally significant. I think between all people that posted by now we all realize: 1. yes, WLS is a major surgery with all kinds of possible risks ans complications. 2. obesity, especially morbid obesity is a major health risk factor that in and of itslef creates health problems that fatal. 3. well-trained Doctor, thorough pre-op education and testing along with meticulous and consitent follow-up after surgery on both patient and physician parts are a must. 4. there are no guarantees in life. 5. media and public like sensantionalism... and negative news travells faster.. easier to publi**** sells better that's not a comprehensive list, but I'll stop here.. I'm 5 months out of Lap. RNY. I took 5 years contemplating, preparing, and/ or researching this surgery and I'm very-very happy that I've had it done. best wishes to you, hugs, Rita.

Hey Rita! No ma'am, I am not questioning having my surgery, if I had to do it all over again, I would! I haven't felt this great in YEARS! I saw that article and thought it would make a great discussion on the boards. I knew all the risks before surgery. I am fornuate that I did not have any other major health issues. Oh and about the media...girl, I know ALL about how they turn things around and only print the bad. With my hubby in Iraq, I hear 1st hand experience with whats going on there that the media DOES NOT print. Thanks for your imput. Its always nice hearing for you! Hugs! Kim
