Check, check, and check. Got the all clear and now it's the count down until January 4th. So here's a question for you. I have read a lot on the boards about 2-3 pre-op having to go liquid diet and drinking system cleansing stuff. The only requirement I have is that the day before I can eat lunch and then liquids after that and then no anything after midnight. Thought that was kind of odd (now trust me I am NOT complaining) What did you all have to do before surgery? Beth

I had to do clear liquids for 2 days, my friend Roberta had a pre-op "menu" similar to yours. OI think it's just surgeon's preference. You're lucky! My 2 days of liquids was awful! I was soooooooo HUNGRY! Take care and best wishes!

Different doctors require different things.... My surgeon had me on clear liquids for 24 hours before surgery. Then NPO past midnight. Plus the day before I had to take 2 different types of antibiotics (3 doses) on a schedule. This was in lieu of anything to clean me out, cause it did the same thing. I even asked my surgeon when he came to see me in the pre-op holding area where these antibiotics given to me for the antibiotic effect or the crap my brains out effect, cause as much as they made me do that, they surely couldn't have given me any antibiotic effect... they went thru way too quickly for that. He laughed and said both.... My sister who had surgery a year ahead of me down in FL, had her last supper the night before at Outback, and only had to be NPO past midnight, and had nothing to clean her system out. Lucky her... My best friend who had surgery 2 years before me had to be on clear liquids for 2 days, and had to do a clean you out prep the day before... So as it appears, each surgeon has differing opinions on what is required. I guess it is all a draw, and a surgeon choice on what you have to do pre-op. And whatever it is we have to do, while it might be a little miserable at the time (I got the 'not eating' headache from hell, and had to be given a shot for it the morning of surgery it was so bad) what we get in return from this surgery is worth any pre-op they can give us. Hugs, Susan
