Happy Re-Birthday to me...

Well folks, today is my 1st Re-Birthday... And what a fun and joyous year it has been. I am so thankful for so many things through this journey. It has been filled with many, many ups, and even a few downs. I am most thankful for the new and improved health this surgery has brought me. I am no longer affected by Diabetes, Hypertension, and GE Reflux. I am down from 13 pills per day to a measly 2 pills. And hopefully at my next visit with my PCP, he will get me off of the thyroid meds as well. I started out at my 1st consult with the surgeon weighing in at 295 lbs, and Morbidly Obese with a BMI of 43. I am so thrilled to be able to say that I am currently at 177 lbs with a normal BMI of 24.6. I really can't remember the last time I was normal. I am thinking it was sometime back in high school, probably like 27 years ago. (Dang I'm getting old) That is a total loss now of 118 lbs. How awesome is that???? I was wearing size 26/28 or 3X-4X in all of my clothes before surgery, and I am now in a solid 12. I can do so many things now that I never thought I would ever be able to do again. Things like mow the yard, and ride amusement park rides, and tie my shoes in the center of my shoe, instead of in the inside corners. I can actually fit in any seat at any arena when I go to a hockey game, and not try to take the seat with me when I get u*****t have bruises on my hips from the seats being so tight. I can get down and roll around on the floor with my kids, and even get back up again. And while I am so thankful for what this surgery has done for me, I am so thrilled to have found this site, and met and made so many new friends here. The support I have received here has been wonderful. Thank you all for everything you have said and done to let me know that I am not alone in all of this, even when I feel that way. I hope that everybody else can be as happy as I am today!!!! Hugs, Susan Lap RNY 12-1-04 295-285-177-155
